ROWAN.

FANCY DRESS BALL. Thronged -with one of the largest companies of dancers which ■ have assembled within ite precincts during the season, the Rowan Hall presented an animated scene on Friday evening on the occasion of the plain and, fancy dress ball organised nil tier the auspices of the local committee. The picturesque costumes worn by a large number of the dancers gave the gathering an exceedingly attractive appearance, which was well supported by an effective decorations scheme, arranged by suspending overhead numbers of highly-coloured streamers converging in a large hoop hung over the middle of the floor. The floor was in its usual good order, allowing the dancers the full enjoyment of the wel Imbalanced rhythm set by Boulton’s orchestra., and the lengthy programme proved interesting throughout. Supper was provided by the ladies’ committee, including Mesdames T. Woodhead, H. Hardaker, li. S. Mundy and CL B. Hill, to whom much credit is also due for the preparatory work and the success of the ball. Messrs. H. Hardaker and R. Avery officiated capably as M.C.’s.
