PEOPLE’S DAY. Weather conditions again being of the very (jest, the people came out in their thousands, and the result was quite the largest crowd that ever was on the grounds. 1 Throughout the arrangements were capital, ensuring smooth running and satisfaction all round. Baker’s Tarroho 2. Ladies’ driving competition—Miss J. Alexander’s Kotira Pai 1, Mrs W. Paul's Gunpowder 2, Leaping competition, steeplechase style—F. Laird’s Hailstorm 1, A. G. Whiteman’s Myra 2. Wire' jumping—G. D. Smith’s Muritai 1. The winner jumped splendidly, and gave a clever exhibition. DRAUGHTS. Entries were not numerous, but quality was undoubted. Moore Hunter Estate (Hawera) took first • prize in three-year entire with Barkis, by Buchlyvie’s Favourite—Hefty Maid, first prize in the two-vear-old colt with Croucher, by Bonnv Dene—Heftv Maid, and first in the three-year filly with Rudabeh, by Junior Chief—Lingerie. B W. Harvey (Waverley) was second in the four-vear-old mares and upward with Thistle Brae. LIGHT HORSES.

. D. Sutherland’s Bonnie Doon was adjudged the champion harness horse, and G. Chamberlain’s Warolane Martian the champion thoroughbred entire.

DOGS. Exhibitois from South Taranaki were present and scored many successes. In bull dogs W. Aitken ‘(Patea) almost scooped the pool, his dog Midgee securing five firsts and snecial for best bull dog in show. S. R. Fuller (Patea) took three seconds. In cocker spaniels south laranald dogs were also prominent, J. J. Buckrell (Hawera) scoring one first, one second, and one third, and H. Burgess (Manaia) a second and a third. In greyhounds ’ , :,™*s (Patea) secured a special and three firsts, while P. H. Tinney (I atea) with his curly-coated retrievers took two firsts and a special and N. Imney (Patea) seven seconds. NEEDLEWORK. A Hawera competitor. Miss McPherson, scored second for crochet in 00 y, for mounted cushion, fancy needlework and useful article made from sugar hag.
