John Pointer was a good favourite lor the Railway Handicap, and after waiting on the leaders for five furlongs lie paced- away to the front and won, hard held, from Pakoti. The second favourite, Willie Logan, could have been second, but was not ridden out, and finally finished fourth, War Bond, the outsider of the field, being third. Race records went by the board in the Courtenay Handicap, when Great Hope (4.24 2-5) defeated Sheik (4.22 a), with the much improved Dolly Dillon chirtl in 4.27 4-5.
