ATHLETICS.

ELECTRIC LIGHT CARNIVAL

On Wednesday night next the first electric light carnival of the season will be held on the show grounds. Mi’ E. V. Dunbar, who was England’s Olympic representative at the Olympic Games in 1920, will make his first appearance in Hawera, and will bo a competitor in the hurdles and high jump. Mr Dubnar is the present New Zealand champion javelin thrower. All athletic events have attracted big enti ies, and good contests should result. A special musical programme will be presented. It is expected that' the novelty of horse jumping by electric light will prove a big attraction. All arrangements are well in hand, and everything points to a successful gathering.

The following officials have been appomted by the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club to conduct the sports: Marshal, Mr F. A. Quin; judges (track), Messrs F. A, Quin, G. H.
