(From Our Own Corespondent). PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL. The above function, held in aid of the hall funds, was a distinct success. A large crowd gathered for the occasion, and the evening proved very enjoyable for all. The decorations, which were arranged by Mrs \Y. A. Guy, consisted of vari-cclouved streamers, radiating from a bell centre, giving the ball a cosy appearance, the effect being very pleasing and 'admired by all. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of the ladies, and the details necessary for a function of this kind were arranged with satisfdctoiry results, reflecting credit to those responsible. An enjoyable programme of dance music was supplied by Sharpe’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Mesdames L. Preece, G. Harrison ant! \A . Seed. Mu- L. Preece proved an efficient M.C., and was ably assisted by Messrs R. Gin- and O. Bootten. The fancy dress competition proved a- vciy interesting event of the evening, a large number representative ol all characters taking part in the grand march. Prizes were awarded bv the judges (Mir and Mrs C. Patterson) as follows:—Adults: Miss Gibbons (Eastern lady). Mrs A. Bootten (circus), and Mr J. C. Amos (cowboy). Children — Girls: Molly Betts (Persian Lady), 1; Kathleen O’Sullivan (black cat), 2; Florice Seed (carnival bells), 3; .Joyce Thomas (Bluebell) 4, special prize donated by Mrs C. Patterson. Boys: Tom Guy (Restless Night), 1; Billy Betts (Caliph), 2; Eric Harrison (red pienrot), 3; Maurice Bootten (black pierrot), 4, special by Mrs Patterson. Others whose names were obtainable represented the following:—F. Dudley (sailor), Alex Seed (Dutch), E. Guy (All Black), M. Carter (clown), Vincent Kelly (snow), W.
