GIRL STRANGLED. BODY OF MAN IN RIVER. BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT MELBOURNE, Aug. 3. The body of a girl named Irene Tuckerman, eleven years of age, was found in a street at Caulfield early this morning. Apparently she had "been strangled, and it is believed she was outraged. The girl left her home at Caulfield on Saturday morning and was not afterwards seen alive. A motor ear was heard in the vicinity. The police have a clue.

. SYDNEY, Aug. 3. A bloodstained cap and a. hammer were found on the bank of the river at Cessnock. Dragging operations recovered the body of a man from the water with his neck broken, apparently by a blow from a hammer.
