AN INSPIRING SIGHT. POPULAR PRINCE. Received Aug. 4, 8.5 a.m. i LONDON, Aug. 3. An inspiring spectacle of the Empire’s boyhood was presented at the Scouts’ jamboree at Wembley on Satur. day afternoon. The Prince of Wales, carrying a Scout stave and looking boyish in his uniform, was Chief Scout. The Prince was accompanied by Sir R. S. S. Baden-Powell and took the salute. Despite the rain throughout, a large crowd witnessed the parade. The Prince, at the conclusion of the parade, retired to the centre of the circle formed by the Sea Scouts, whereon the Scouts converged, yelling war cries. A remarkable sight was presented when, with their hats on their staves, the hoys cheered the King and-Prince of Wales, who recalled meeting the Scouts during his Empire tours. Subsequently the Prince left for the Scout camp, where he spent the night under canvas. During the evening meal he visited the mess huts, and later attended the campfire sing-song held in a field adjoining the camp, where, around a huge fire of bracken and logs, over 3000 Scouts congregated. Each Dominion contingent sang songs.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BOY SCOUTS. BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Aug. 1.
