Young, of the Manawatu Football Association, who met the Chinese footballers in Wellington, a Manawatu Times representative was interested to learn that the visitors do not speak to each other in Chinese, because one cannot understand the talk of the other! To the man from the North the Southern Chinaman’s dialect is as a foreign language, and consequently English is used a s a common medium, which latter is absolutely essential.
