The Geneva correspondent, of the Daily Express says a youth living at Bellungona, tiring of his fiancee after a year’s engagement, begged his release from the girl, who agreed on condition that he found her a husband. She said: “Marriage is a lottery anyway,” so an auction was held at a cafe. The girl, who is 21 years of age, was “knocked down” at £lB to a young farmer with money. The girl buys the trousseau. The bride’s parents did not raise any objection.
