A match was played on the Manaia Domain on Wednesday between the Taranaki representatives and Auron soccer team. The reps, were three of their picked men short, hut they had good .substitutes. The Auroa team kept them very busy until the last 10 minutes of the game. Ju the first half Auroa . had most of the game, Budd not having much to do in goal. About 10 minutes before half-time the inside right got a pass from Hisloo, and heat Hart with a good shot. Play was fairly even for a time. Ramsay or the rep. forwards not being able to get away too well on account of I). Barlow playing a sound hack game. In a hit of a scrimmage in the penalty area Harrison bandied, and the reus, got a penalty against Auroa. Ramsay taking the shot, but Budd saved. Shortlv after Campbell scored for the reps., and the game ended in a draw, one all. Air G. Mitchell was the referee. A grand benefit Association football match. Taranaki v. The Rest, is to take place nn Saturday. August Hi. at Manaia. when the best players of the province will meet as an exoressjoii of sympathy and assistance for Mr G. H. Edwards, of Manaia, who recently broke a leg while playing in a match against Kaponga. A number of Rugby officials and enthusiasts have thrown in their help, and given fine weather a large attendance is expected, and a substantial sum should be realised. Mr Geo. Mitchell, the well-known referee, v.ill control the game.
