The efforts of the Seamen’s Union to provoke further trouble on the Eordsdale have been apparently futile, as no difficulty was experienced when the vessel arrived yesterday. Officials of the union addressed a meeting of waters!ders prior to the arrival of the vessel, and endeavoured to induce them to refuse work. However, a resolution was carried in favour of working the boat. DARWIN EXPEDITION. ' SYDNEY, Aug. 1. The Darwin expedition against the blacks has been delayed in Starting owing to engine trouble to the Huddersfield. It is expected that it will he three days before she will be ready. —Aus.-N.Z. In the Assembly the Leader of the Opposition, Sir Mitchell, moved for a reduction in supply of £SOOO as a protest against the Government introducing a forty-four hour week, i Mr. Johnstone, Deputy-Leader of •f- the Country Party, intimated that his i party would not support the amendment, though not in favour of the forty-four hour week.
