In, the Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition moved a motion of no confidence in the Government on account of its financial policy. The motion is expected to be easily defeated. J VOTE FOR DEFENCE PURPOSES. MELBOURNE, July 31. In the House of Representatives the Defence Equipment Bill, allocating £2,500,000 for defence purposes, passed all stages. The money represents the cost of the construction of one of the two proposed new cruisers, on which it is estimated the outlay will be £2 - 200,000.
