To speak of a “white blackbird” seems an absurdity, but in all classes of animals or birds there are “freaks.” Even white wood-hens have been known (remarks the Timaru Post). But we do not require to search far for a “sport” of the blackbird tribe,' there being one in Timaru as white a.s driven snow. The bird ha s frequented the home where it is at present for some years. When it first appeared it was not robed in feathers of pure whiteness. Year by year, however, any tinges of dark colour which it once possessed gradually disappeared, and "to-day the bird is perfectly white. It is very quiet, and in the care of the occupiers in the house where it has taken up its abode, it will literally feed from the hand. It’s a safe bet to follow' the crowd to the Melbourne Ltd., where the sale of assigned stock is booming. Solid savings on these.
