Bowling.
Three rinks from the Bluff Hill club met three Hastings rinks on the latters green on Saturday, and competed for the Presidents' Cup. The shower of rain which fell early in the afternoon delayed matters somewhat but d.d not materially affect the conditions of the green. The home teams won all their rinks. Mrs White kindly provided afternoon tea. Following are the scores : Napier. Hastings. F. 20 Nairn O'Reilly Sheath King Baxter Gower Dean 12 White 33 The Hastings Bowling Club is now leading by three points for the Presidents' Cup, having 7 points to its credit. Bluff Hill Club comes next with 4 points, Napiei 3, and Greenmeadows 2. NORTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT. Auckland, Dec. 7. At a meeting of local d.legates in connection with the North Island Bowling Association's tournament to be held in Auckland commencing on January 6th, it was decided to offer a citizens' prize, open to members of any club affiliated to the North Island Association. The first prize will be a gold medal and trophy valued at £3 3s to each member of the team, the second prize a gold medal and a trophy valued at 30s to each member, and the third prize a trophy valued at £2 2s to each member. The secretary of the Dannevirke Bowling Club has received a communication from the secretary of the North Island Association in reference to a proposal that the teams attending the tournament at Auckland should travel over the Main Trunk Railway.
