LONDON WOOL SALES. London, July 25. At the London sales the quantity of wool sold to Home buyers was 82,000 bales, to the Continent 55.000 bales, and to America 5000 bales. The quantity held over is 24,000 bales, including 19,500 baits of New Zealand. As compared with May closing rates, best merinos suitable for the Amei ican trade are fully 5 per cent dearer, average sorts slightly in sellers' favour, short faulty (especially scoured) \' 2 d to id lower, good greasy crossbreds firm and unchanged, shabby and faulty sorts show a decline of 5 to 10 per cent. Slipes are in superabundant supply. Finest and coarsest declined Jid to Id and medium id. Lambs, best merinos are unchanged; faulty merinos ami New Zealand crossbreds declined to id. The average prices realised for the fleece portions of the undermentione ' clips were Ngakonui Homewood I Id. HIDES, WOOL AND TALLOW. Melbourne, July 25. Hides —There was keen competition for good conditioned lots at firm rates. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., report having held their periodical sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow before a good attendance of local buyers. Bidding was slack, and prices realised were at par with last sales rates. We quote the following prices : Wool —Crossbred fleece from yd to 8; Crutchings, 50 to 7d to 8d ; locks, 3d to 3%a. Skin —Crossbred well woolled, from 7 lid to medium, 6d to 7J-id; hoggets, s'4d to to 2s each ; Merino lambs, 6?4d to 7 1 4<1; pelts, 6d to Is 3d. Hides —Heavy ox, from to cow, 5d to 5-% d; medium, 4%d to sd. Tallow- In station packages from 2}4d to 2j&d ; rough, id to ij^jd.
