Hastings District High School.

The usual monthly meeting was held in the Schoolhouso last evening. Present .—Messrs Maddison (chair), Harper, Hart. Land, McCormick, Mos3man, Roach and Ross. An apology was read from Mr Basil-Jcnea for his absence, having very important business to attend to in Cbnstchurch. The headmaster's report showed the attendance to be highly satisfactory. The hsadmaster wrote complaining , of a family of truants, and it was decided to write to the parent stating that unless his three boys attended, action would be taken in a police court compelling them to do so. The visiting committee were instructed to have all fanlights attended to. The school social recently hold showed the receiots to be £46 19s 6d, and the expenditure £lO 103 3d, leaving a surplus of £36 9s 3d. From the Education Board, stating that second hand forms would be sent to Hastings immediately, It was decided to write Mr Dillon, M.H.K, re new District High School building. Mr Pegler wrote asking permission to attend Victoria College and University examinations—Granted. It was decided to write to the Board asking for a new shed for the headmaster. From the' Education Board stating that the meetings will be held on the second Tuesday in the month. It was decided that in future, committee meetings be held on the fourth Monday in each month. A letter was read from the Aramoho School Committee re uniform school books—Received. Accounts amounting to £6 were passed for payment.
