tOVEUTY BAY V. HAWKE'S BAY. (special to standahd). The return interprovinoial hockey match between Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay was played at Victoria Domain, Gisborne, on Saturday afternoon. The weather was very windy, and the ground rough. The Hawke'e Bay, team did not play as originally selected, Tayler (Hastings) aad Chalmers (Napier) being called «po» to fill tha vacancies. Hawke's Bay lost the toss and played against the wind and sun, For a good while, the home team attaoked and kept the visitors defending, but Hawke's Bay took a hand at attacking. The defence of both sides was impregnable, and no score was registered in the first half. The play in the second half was very even, neither side having the advantage. The game thus ended in a draw, with no score. Shattky captained the visitors and Martinjthe Poverty Bay team. Messrs Carr (Hawke's Bay) and Pnflett (Gisborne) controlled the game. The visitors were entertained at dinner and later at a Bmoke concert on Saturday night. Yeeterday they were shown sound the conn try, and spent an enjoyable outing. The boat left at 5 p.m. yesterday against ft rought sea, and sickness was an epidemic amongst the team.
