The New York Herald states that the explosion was caused by a short-circuited electrical wire. Those on the vessels near at hand heard a loud rep' rt. The Aquidaban seemed to be nan asunder, and sank immediately without any outcry. Moßt of tUo.-c al'oard were asleep.
