He is beautifully bred, and his dam proved one of the best, if not the best, stud matrons ever imported into New Zealand. She is a half-sister to Hermit, and produced Leeds, who was a most successful racehorse in England, while she gave to New Zealand and Australia Russley, Too Soon, Tartar, Mahaki, She, Stepniak, and Stepfeldt, horses that have won classic honors and handicap events.
