THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
The announcement that the Hastings agency of the Bank of New Zealand is to be closed at the end of the current month will occasion some surprise. There is only one conclusion to be drawn, and that is that the business of the first bank to open in Hastings has suffered materially from political and other reasons. It is to be regretted that the town is to lose one of its financial institutions —more particularly as an era of prosperity is just ensuing.
