Pollard's Opera Company.

Amusement lovers will be pleased to learn that this ever-popular company is about to visit us once more, and will renew acquaintance with a local audience on Tuesday nest. They will also regret to learn that this will be positively the last appearance here of this clever combination for at least two years, as an Australian tour will be commenced early in June. As usual Mr Pollard returns with not only new faces, but new pieces, and is prepared to go the inevitable " one better." Since last seen here an important engagement has been made, in the person of Mr Charles Carter, the popular tenor, who is already making great strides in his adopted profession. The season is limited to live nights only, and the following is the programme selected : —On Tuesday the initial attraction will be the celebrated musical comedy "A Gaiety Girl," of which we have heard such glowing accounts. This is the latest addition to the Pollardian repertoire, and the Auckland critics were unanimous in declaring that it was the best piece the company had yet produced. A feature of the production will be the introduction of several members of the company in leading parts, who have hitherto, to use the Paul J ones gag, been " keeping da"rk on the weather bow-." On Wednesday tbe attraction will , be everybody's favourite opera " Paul Jones," in which Mr Charles Carter will interpret Rufino, the character originally played here by Miss Emily Metcalfe, On ! Thursday the bright, breeay and merry ! musical comedy. " The Gay Parisienne," will be played for the last time here. On Friday an old favorite in Audian's charming work, " La Mascotte,' will be staged, i with Miss May Beatty as Bettina, and Mr | Carter as Prince Frittelmi. On Saturday the season will terminate with "The French Maid." The box plan will be opened on Friday morning at Cbadwick's.
