FOOTBALL.
The following team has been selected by Turanganni Club to play Waerenga a-hika in the Cup match next Saturday Full back— Featon ; three-quarters—Maude, Matthews, Hepburn; halves—Burns, Branson, Loomb; forwards—Forrest, Robinson, Leslie, Hope, Crawford, Sherriff, Niabett, Eston ; emergencies—Masterson, Williams, O’Meara. All members of the Club are requested to roll up for indoor practice at the City Bink this evening, as the team is subject to alteration, At a meeting of the Hawke s Bay Rugby Union the Caledonian Club protested against a match being allowed to the Ahuriris, on account of incompetency of the referee. A Committee was appointed to decide the matter, an opportunity to be given for witnesses on behalf of either side to give evidence. At the Ponsonby-Grafton match in Auckland there were no umpires. Mr McCausland acted as referee, and there were two linejudges, The public did not approve of the innovation, it being considered that too much is thrown nn the referee, Ponsonby won with 6 points to 2.
