AQUATICS.
THE BRISBANE CARNIVAL. Brisbane, Dec. 6. The Aquatic Carnival began yesterday. The first beat of the sculling race resulted as follows : —Matterson, 1; Stansbury, 2; McLeer, 8; Wain, 4. The second heat resulted io a win for Searle ; Kemp, 2; Neilsen, 3 ; Beach, 4. The final heat between the first two in each of the above heats was won, after a splendid race, by Searle, Kemp being a length and a half away. The third heat was won by Beach, with Neilsen second. THE AMERICAN CHAMPION. New York. Dee. 6. O’Connor has been feted at Toronto. He leaves for Australia forthwith, provided a match can be arranged.
