Correction by Mr Joyce.

[To the Editor.’ Sih,—The report in your last issue re my remarks at the Whataupoko Boad Board meeting on the question of electing a Chairman, was somewhat misleading (possibly through your informant.) My remarks were, " That I was surprised to hear that certain members had been asked and pledged themselves to vote for Mr Coleman as chairman, before the election." Mr Coleman denied having asked anyone until I asserted that his proposer was my authority. I then did, and still do, hold the opinion that the position which any candidate occupies on the list at the declaration of the poll is a sufficient guarantee of how he should rank in the estimation of the ratepayers, they having placed him there and being the legalised judges of such candidate on that occasion. Yours. &c., E. P. Joyce.
