THE MAORI ELECTION.
The polling for the election of a member for the Eastern Maori District took place today. There was little or .no excitement in town, owing to the fact that there are but a limited number of Maori voters in or about Gisborne. The following are the votes re-
ORMOND. We have received the following telegram from our correspondent at Ormond : " The polling to-day (Wednesday) caused a good deal of excitement amongst the Maoris, and no little interest is being felt by a number of Europeans at the probable result. It was a foregone conclusion that Wi Pere would poll nearly all the votes here as it is considered his stronghold. Ths following are
