A. meeting of the Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening. Present, The Mayor, Councillors Joyce, T.iiqsr, Townley, Dunlop, Ponsford, Whinray, Lewis and Tucker.

The Inspector of Nuisances reported as follows:— Each lime there is a fresh in the river, your beach is covered with dead sheep, cattle tn., which die in the County and »re left to get putrid until they are removed by the freshes, when they are thrown on to your beach. During the past month I have had buried from the beach 1 bullock, 8 horsea, md about 12 sheep, Each sheep costs 2s snd bullocks and horses 10s each. Should not the County Council pay for these ? It was decided to claim a re-fund of the amount expended in cartage of these dead animals from the Harbout Board. The Inspector was also instructed in future to give notice to the Harbour Board requiring them to remove the nuisance referred to. PATMENia.
