Death of an Old Freemason.
New Plymouth, July 7. Mr John Newland, senior, who died last Wednesday, was the oldest Freemason in New Zealand, having joined the Robert Burns Lodge, London, on May 1, 1824. He was appointed Provincial Grand Senior Warden when Sir Donald McLean was made District Grand Master in Wellington in 1874.
