Poverty Bay Turf Club.

Thr annual meeting of the above club was held yesterday evening at the Masonic Hotel. Present: Messis J. Johnston, C. D. Bennett, J. Nolan, J. R, Scott, G. L. Sunderland, F. Dufaur, T. O. Barnard, G. F. Butt, Captain winter, Major Pitt and J.H. Aisiabie (Secretary). ANNUAL REPORT. The above was read by lhe Secretary. It was of a very satisfactory nature; showing that a profit to the Club on the year’s business had been made of Z 97 las gd. Great improvements had been made in the saddling paddock and grand-stand. A satisfactory settlement of differences with the Auckland Racing Club had also been effcted. The officers of the Club were thanked for their services, and especial compliment being paid to the efficient manner in which the handicapping had been ctried out by C. D Bennett, Fsq.

BALANCE SHEET. The Secretary also read out the above from which we find that the Club started the year wl . a deposit in the Union Bank of Z3s°. ihis is still intact p us an addition of £76 as Bd, which is high y satisfactory. The total amou Hofst es w s £ 1078 which is an excellent record for so limited a district. On the Spring Meeting the expenses were £iz 8s 3d, and the receipts jfsia 7s fid. At the Annual Meeting the total expenses were Z’zot US Bd. Altogether the Club seems to have worked well and amicably for the cause Of sport in the district, and we are glad to congratulate them upon their satisfactory financial condition.

ADOPTIONS. Upon the motion of Mr Sunderland, seconded by Mr Nolan, the balance sheet was adopted; and upon the motion of Mr Johnson, seconded by Mr Barnard, the committee’s report was adopted.

OFFICERS. The following officers were elected : President, Major Pitt; Vice-President, J. W. Johnson ; Auditors, C. D. Bennett and F. Dufaur; Chairman of Committee G. L. Sunderland; Committee, 1 aptain Winter, W. Wethered, A. McDonald; Secretary, J. H. Aislabie ; Treasurer, G. F. Butt. It was decided to hold a Committee meeting the first Monday in August to frame a programme for the Spring Meeting.
