Hospital Trustees.

Ax adjourned meeting of the above wa held last night. Present :—Messrs Lucas (Chairman), Tucker, Nolan, Watson, Brown Dunlop, Bev, J. E. Fox, and H. McKay Clerk.) New Roof. Tenders for a new roof to the Hospital were opened as follows : —J. Somerville, £150; G. Smart, £ll9 5s 6d ;J. W. Wade, £100; J. W, Smith, £94. Mr Finneran, Architect to the Board, attended, and produced a plan of the intended roof which he had recently ,made. He explained his views as to what was in his opinion the best to be done. Proposed by Captain Tucker, and seconded and carried “ That the lowest tender be accepted,” subject to the following conditions. (1). —That the amount of such tender be received according to the amount of work to be abandoned. (2). —That Mr Finneran and two Trustees (Messrs Tucker and E. K. Brown' be appointed to decide what amount of work in the original specification should’ be abandoned. (3). —In the event of- Mr J. W. Smith (the lowest tenderer) declining to make, what the two Trustees appointed consider a just and fair reduction in price, they shall call for fresh tenders for the work to be specified by Mr Finneran, such tender to be in by Saturday, at 7.30, and such two Trustees to have the power of accepting a tender. Supplying Hospital with Gas. Mr Maude asked permission to address the meeting as to a proposal he had to make on behalf of the Gas Co. with reference to supplying gas to the Hospital. Mr Maude having stated the offer of the Gas Co. several members dissented from the proposal to supply the gas on the score of expense, it being anticipated that it would much exceed that of kerosene, and also that the present light was sufficient. Drainage. The plans for the proposed drainage scheme, as approved by the Government, were laid on the table, and Messrs Watson and Tucker were appointed a Committee to instruct Mr Drummond to prepare specificaot such portions of the work necessary to be carried out at once. This being all the business, the meeting 1 adjourned.
