450,000 HOMELESS AND HUNDREDS DEAD IN PHILIPPINES
50 Million Dollars Storm Damage (Rec. 8.55). MANILA, Nov. 6. Mounting deaths and damage are reported as a result of last Monday’s typhoon, and of floods that followed it in the Philippines. Reports from the Negros Occidental Province alone said that five hundred persons were drowned by floods in the town of Kabankalan alone. The chairman of the Philippines Red Cross, Sc nor Manuel Lim, has sent a cable to the International Red Cross, appealing for help. He stated that one hundred and ninety-two are known to be dead, and that there are four hundred and fifty-two missing who are presumed to be dead. Incomplete estimates have placed the damage at fifty million dollars. The typhoon and the floods have affected eight provinces, paralysing transportation and communications. No word has been received from many areas, which are still isolated. Incomplete reports indicate that about four hundred and fifty thousand people have been made destitute. Flood Disaster Lu Venezuela (Ree 9.30) CARACAS, Nov 6. Fifty persons have been reported killed, and more than 200 injured, whilst about 15,000 people have been macle homeless, as the result of the Guaira Kver, ir- Venezuiela suddenly overflowing in the Feta/e region, 20 miles from Caracas, after heavy rain. The property damage is estimated at about 2,000,000 dollars.
