Storm Disaster In Philippines
MANILA, November 4. More than 250 persons are believed to have met their death in a typhoon which swept the Philippines yesterday. The Manila Chronicle reported that 200 were killed or drowned at Kabankalan, Negros Island. Other deaths are reported from the Visayan Islands. The authorities fear that the casualty list might be heavier than reported so far, since many places a 1 ’- fected have still not been heard from. The places hardest hit were Ceou, Iloilo, Bohol, Panay, Occidental Negros, Oriental Negros and Suriagao. One report said that the whole town of Dumagat. in the Suriagao province, was completely destroyed. The Red Cross announced to night that more than 6650 victims in Cebu already have been given emergency relief. There were 15 deaths in Cebu, where widespread havoc was reported. It was the worst typhoon the Central Philippines has known in 12 years.
