GERALDINE CUP MAY GO TO FRANCES

With the exception of Peridot, none of those opposed to Frances in the Geraldine Cup' have much to recommend them. The Bulandshar mare represents real class and she is not all badly treated. In such a small field, the last Auckland Cup winner will probably be at restricted odds. The Orari course is in excellent order, and the following horses may be prominent in their respective engagements: — Rangitata Hurdles: Moonlit, KiL oney, Turf Topic.

Ohapi Stakes: Indiana, Night Ruler, Farrago.

Geraldine Cup; Frances, Peridot, Falconbridge. Geraldine Trot: Highland Prince, Terrace Lass, Vedette. Raukapuka Hack: Al Serene, Highway, Open Sky.

Squatters’ Handicap: The Hob, Theocritus, Cipher. Orari Trot: Castlelight, Bonny Gold, Supplement. Belfield Hack; Finance, Sky High, Pacific Edition.

Gold Script And Signal Officer Prominent In Trentham Trials

WELLINGTON, Oct 13

A brilliant five furlongs by the three-year-old Gold Script, and a sound gallop over a mile by the Wellington Handicap topweight, Signal Olficer, were features of the final gallops at Trentham this morning for the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. Among other good trials were those by Renowned, Western Front, Kartikeya, Demonic, Dennis O’Kelly, and the two-year olds Robin Glen and Pastel. The outside of the course proper was open for fast work, the track being in perfect order. Gold Script cleared out from Sweet Spray over the final stages of five furlongs and beat her by four lengths in 1.2 4-5, the last three furlongs being run in 35 4-ssec.
