(Rec 10.50)
LONDON, Oct 10.
“Sporting Life” says: The first real steps towards forming an Empire crew to represent Britain in the New Zealand Empire Games in February will be taken during the week-end. Members of several clubs and a number of old Oxford and Cambridge Blues were on the river in five separate outings.
R. D. Burnell, who was a successful Olympic oarsman, has been invited to form an Empire crew. A special boat, is to be built next month when the rowing order is settled. The crew will train hard for a fortnight at Henley in January and is due to leave for New Zealand by air on January 23.
