Almost £67,000,000 Rehabilitation Loans

Rehabilitation Loans numbering 1397 and valued at £1,154,920 were authorised during August to ex-ser-vicemen and women, bringing the total number of loans authorised to 82,978 worth £66,737,081. Loans were for farms, houses, businesses, furniture, tools of trade and miscellaneous other purposes. A further 93 farm loans during August brought the number of such loans to 6112 worth £25,658,850, including 837 farms under the land Settlement Scheme.
Loans to build houses totalled 214 (£312,725) during August and for purchase 256 (£244,566). These loans were brought to: Erection. 11,617 (£16,665,532); purchase, 15,762 (£15,639,845). Included were 15,089 supplementary loans worth £2,277,033, intended to help bridge the gap between pre-war prices and present-day costs.
Altogether, including those allocated State rental houses and those settled on farms, 44,505 ex-service-men have had housing assistance through the Rehabilitation Board.
Other forms of loan assistance have been:-Business loans, for August 116 (£80,462), to date 7924 (£4,971,786); free-of-interest furniture loans, for August 697 (£65,170). to date 39,816 (£3.671,807); free-of-interest loans to purchase tools of trade, for August 12 (£302), to date 1353 (£44,558); loans and advances for miscellaneous purposes, for August 9 (£747), to date 394 (£84,703).
