U.S. STRIKERS’ WIVES CHASE “SCABS” OFF THE JOB

(E'ec 10.5) NEW YORK, Sept 27. A mob of angry women, armed with sticks, staged a demonstration in support of their husoands, who are on strike, at Buffalo to-day. Some of them wore Army steel helmets. Others brought their children. Two non-strikers were chased and beaten.

The women held a “ladies’ demonstration” outside the Bell Aircraft plant, where workers have been on strike for 106 days. Over 60 women and 18 children paraded with placards bearing such slogans as “Husbands, Wives and Kids United!”; “My Daddy Fights for Me!” Over 100 guards tried to clear a path for the two non-strikers, but the women broke throu.oh. They gave chase as the two non-striking men fled, repeatedly hitting them with sticks. The demonstrators were members of the United Auto Workers Ladies’ Auxiliary. The strike, which began over wage and pension demands, has now reached a deadlock.
