QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT
P.A. WELLINGTON, Sept. 27 At question time in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr W. H. Fortune, (Nat., Eden), gave notice to ask the Minister of Transport: “If the Government intends to implement the recommendation of the Commission of Transport that in the case of accidents to young children on roads, involving motorists, the drivers of the cars involved should be considered guilty of negligence until their innocence is proved. Mr C. M. Bowden (Nat. KarOri): gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance: If some relief would be given to New Zealand gold producers by making the increased price of gold that is now payable (£l2' 8s pe/oz), available for gold retrospective over the last twelve months for all gold won since September last year. It was assumed that increases in gold stock held by the Reserve Bank in the past year were made at an authorised price of £8 8s 6d an ounce. He said New Zealand gold producers suffered heavily as a result of appreciation of the New Zealand pound.
