GREAT FIRE IN SOVIET SECTOR OF VIENNA

Thirty-one .fire brigades fought for three and a half hours to-day to put out a fire which swept an area of a third of a square mile near Reich’s bridge spanning the Danube in the Soviet sector.
The fire broke out in a municipal bus garage and spread quickly to seven b/jeks of buildings, among them the wooden buildings of the Siemens Schuckert works and nearly 10,000 cubic feet of stored timber. The British-owned Bunzl and Birch works were among the buildings destroyed.
