BOXING KAPEEN OUTS N.Z. CHAMPION

Fijian Wins Again AUCKLAND, Sept. 20. The Australian welter-weight, George Kapeen, beat the New Zealand light-weight champion, Percy Kelly, on a technical knock-out in the sixth round of a scheduled 10round catch-weight contest in the 'Lown Hall tonight. At 20, Kapeen was 12 years vounger than Kelly. At lOst 4ilb he had a weight advantage of 9ilb. He was taller, and he nad an advantage in reach. Kelly’s left eye was badly gashed in the fourth round. At the end of the sixth round a doctor ruled him unfit to continue. The Fijian Indian, Francis Joseph, scored his fourth win in five fights in Nevz Zealand by knocking out Phil Adam, of Wanganui in the tirst round oi a scheduled six-round bout. Joseph weighed lOst 71b, and Adam lOst 61b. Phil Wallace, of Auckland, had his second win in two professional lights when he outpointed Peter Cochrane, of Auckland .over six rounds. The Sydney Stadius was packed to capacity last night when the Cloncurry Aboriginal. Jack Hassan, successfully defended the Australian lightweight title against the versatile Victorian, Archie Kemp. Both boxers entered the ring at 9st 91b. The fight was described as the best seen al the stadium this season Kemp had an early lead on points and up till the seventh round was all over Hassan. The Queenslander, however, is such a cool customer that he was always moving with a lot in hand whereas Kemp was making every punch-a winner, thereby using his energv round by round. Hassan was quite content to let his opponent force the fight knowing that he had plenty cf time to equalise. The champion camo into his own in round eight to give Kemp a terrific battering. Rounds nine and ten found Kemp hard put, defending solidly. The climax came in the eleventh round when Kemp was sent to the canvas for the count. Kemp had recovered .fully when the attendants, were read.?/ to leave the ring and he was carried out on a stretcher.
