DUNEDIN, Aug. 18. “You must have the most anpalline record of any criminal in New Zeaand,” said Mr J. D. Willis S.M., when John Henry Silva, aged 32, a railway employee, of Dunback, on four charges of unlawful conversion of motor-vehicles and six of theft. Silva pleaded and received four and a half years hard labour. “You have been before the courton at least three other occasions, founlawful conversion,” said Mr Willis, “as well as on numerous charges of breaking entering, theft and general dishonesty.” Detective T. Y. Hall said Silva was on licence from Auckland prison. He had beeh sentenced tn - total of 15 years’ hard labour in 1941 and served almost eight years. A flogging had been included in his previous
