Blackball Resident Appointed Dog Tax Collector in Grey County

The Grey County Council yesterday accepted the offer of Mr A. Schofield, of Blackball, to act in the capacity c< Dog Tax Collector in the Grey County. The application was granted on a' six months trial subject to the conditions outlined by the applicant. In his application, Mr Schofield stated that on a recent night he nad lost 22 sheep. There were a hundred odd dogs in his locality and he was very keen to take on the work as tax collector. He has had previous experienced as a ranger. Cr. W. Fisher said that Mr Schofield’s land on top of the hill near the Ngahere dredge tailings, was infested with dogs and it was impossible for him to keep any stock.
