HEAVY FIGHTING IN JERUSALEM

(Rec. 10.10). JERUSALEM, May 2. Heavy fighting broke out between Jews and Arab Legion troops last night in the Jerusalem-Bethlehem area. Mortar and bomb explosions and gunfire were heard all over Jerusalem. Israeli authorities have imposed a black-out, pending an investigation. There has been no official explanation. It is believed that fighting started when Jewish troops began to take possession of a railway line, from which Arabs were supposed to withdraw yesterday, under terms of the armistice agreement. It is reported that they resisted.
