Coast Carpenters Give Support to Auckland Branch

Meetings of members of the Westland Branch of the New Zealand Carpenters and Joiners’ Union, held recently have passed resolutions pledging their full support to the Auckland Branch of the Union in its endeavours to achieve a reasonable margin of skill for carpenters throughout New Zealand in seeking a rate of four shillings an hour and to have restored the benefits taken away in the suburban work” clause. Reporting this' last evening the Secretary of the Westland Branch, Mr J. E. Laing, stated that a substantial grant, was passed from the Westland Branch’s funds to assist the Auckland carpenters who have been locked out by the employers and all members have been requested to contribute to the relief set up for that purpose.
