CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES FINAL TO-DAY
Fine weather during the week-end enabled the West Coast Croquet Association to make better progress with their annual tournament, particularly in the championship singles. The final of the first lite in the singles will be decided to-day between Mr Petty (Nelson) and Mrs Martin (Christchurch). Results.— Championship Singles, First Life.— Mr Petty (Nelson) defeated) Mrs Hosking (Christchurch) 26-18; Mrs Martin (Christchurch) defeated Mrs Dickie (Christchurch) 26-17; Mrs Martin (Christchurch) defeated Mrs Nichols (Christchurch) 26-16.
Final of the first life of the championship singles will be played between Mr Petty (Nelson) and Mrs Martin (Christchurch). Championship Doubles, First Round —Mesdames Prescott and Keating defeated Mrs Shannon and Miss McNight 26-18; Mesdames Rhodes and Nichols (Christchurch) defeated Mesdames Warnes and Mercer (Greymouth) 26-16. Second Round.—Mesdames McCracken and Yandall (Christchurch), defeated Mesdames Martin and Bull 26-19.
Handicap Doubles, second round. — Mrs Hooper and Miss McNight defeated Mesdames McCracken and Rae 26-18.
