EXCLUSION OF COMMUNISTS FROM NEW ZEALAND R.S.A.

DUNEDIN, February 25.

Communists are not wanted as members of the Reutrned Services’ Association in Dunedin. That feeling was made clear last night when 100 members of the city branch held a special meeting to discuss a remit referred to the branches by the New Zealand Association.

The following motion was carried after a 40-minutes discussion:—“That all Communists be debarred from membership of all affiliations of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association.”

An amendment, that the word “Communists” be deleted and “members of the New Zealand Communist Party” be substituted, was lost.

When the motion was put to the meeting, there were three dissentients, including the mover and seconder of the amendment.
