REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). Following a request from Blackwater Mines, Ltd., between 25 and 30 employees of the idled Waiuta gold mine are to be found temporary work by the County Council for about two weeks. The County chairman, Cr J. McGregor, reported that the management of the company had suggested that the Council might be able to “tide over” the miners by finding work for them for about two weeks, while repairs were being carried out to the shaft and while underground work was impossible. The mattei" had come before the executive, which had approved the proposal to find interim work for the men, with the suggestion that the men could be used in connection with the ragwort eradication campaign.
