Mr R. F. Barter, President of the Auckland Labour Representation Committee arrived by yesterday’s express. He proceeds to the Fox Glacier to-day to attend the savings banks conference as a delegate from the Auckland Savings Bank.

Mr J. H. Raleigh, chief clerk in the Grey Valley group of State coal mines, was met by fellow members of the staff on Wednesday and presented with a wristlet watch, by Mr J. G. Quinn (manager of the Dobson mine). The presentation was made because Mr Raleigh will leave shortly to take up a position at Wellington as secretary of the Coal Valuation Committee.
