UNDERTOW CAUSES SURFING FATALITY

P.A. WELLINGTON, February 24. One man was drowned. and a married couple had a narrow escape, when caught by an undertow, while swimming on the Paekakariki beach this morning. The drowned man, whose body has not been discovered, was Keith Venimore, aged about. 30. married, who is believed to have lived at Tawa Flat, Wellington. The married couple were Mr and Mrs Charles Fenwick, of Lower Hutt. Mrs Fenwick managed to get ashore, and her husband was rescued by a lifeline. Mr Fenwick was taken by ambulance to Wellington Hospital.
