BRITAIN SEEKS BIG TRADE DEAL WITH THE ARGENTINE
(Received February 23, 8.35 .p.m.l BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 22 British and Argentine trade experts began bargaining to-day on the biggest Anglo-Argentine trade deal since the war.
Argentina was reported to be asking that the payments for the meat to be shipped by her to Britain be increased by as much as forty per cent., and that part of the payment be made for it in either dollars or convertible currencies. It was reported, also, that Argentina would ask for a fivevear pact, with an annual revision of the prices, but that Britain, with development of the Dominion and Colonial cattle supply in prospect, would prefer to keen to the present arrangement of yearly contracts.
