The depth of the bar at high water yesterday was 26ft 4in. The Matthew Flinders is loading timber for Melbourne, and is expected to sail towards the end of the week.
The Puriri is expected to complete loading coal for Nelson to-day, and to sail when bar conditions moderate. The Rata, which arrived in the roadstead on Tuesday evening, will enter port when the heavy seas on the bar abate. She will load coal for New Plymouth. The Kiwitea arrived in the roadstead yesterday morning, and will enter port when bar conditions are favourable. She will load coal for return to Auckland. The Gabriella was expected to sail from Wellington yesterday, and is due at Greymouth on Friday. She will load coal for Miramar. The Foolta was scheduled to clear Wellington yesterday, and on arrival at Greymouth on Friday she will load coal for Miramar.
