Further Evidence of Incorrect Overtime Hours in Banks
WELLINGTON. February 22
Written statements by . ollicers of /he Union Bank of Australia Lid were presented in the .Arbitration Court tO‘ day when the hearing was resumed of the New Zealand bank oflicials’ claim for an award.
The advocate for the union, Mr C. A. It. Bunt, said the statements confirmed that it had been necessary to enter incorrect hours in the attendance book in order to obviate the payment of overtime or meal money.
Mr' Bunt asked the court to treat the names of the men making the statements as conlidential. He then read to the court a circular sent to guild members in 1943, drawing attention to “the persistent complaints from Union Bank employees, and seeking confidential information.”
Further evidence for the union was given, to-day by bank employees.
